An Open Love Letter to My Husband

Kate Marsh Lord

Posted By: Kate Marsh Lord

Kate Marsh Lord is the mom of three young and very energetic kids: a 5 year old son, a 3 year old daughter and a “surprise” bonus baby boy born in March of 2012.

With three kids, a busy schedule, work obligations and a home to maintain I often feel like I have more on my plate than I can handle. As a result, I know that I don’t put enough effort into my relationship with my husband. I’ll be honest, after nearly 8 years of marriage, I sometimes take him for granted.

So. Let me take this opportunity to write a letter to my husband and get a little “romantical.” (What? That’s not a word? We use it all the time in my house…)

I love you for being such a loving and caring father to our children. Whether you’re deployed or home every night for dinner our kids know that you love them with all your heart. I love you for being supportive of me, even when you have no idea what I’m talking about. You never give less than your best – at work and at home – and your work ethic is something to behold.

You are silly. You are smart. You are dedicated. You are driven. You are mine.

And, finally, I don’t tell you enough, but you are looking amazing these days. All your hard work in the gym and on the trails has more than paid off because you are a hottie. For reals.

Before Max we had fairly regular dates several times a month, but it can be hard to schedule adult time when you have a baby but not a reliable breastfeeding schedule. So I know this letter doesn’t make up for the lack of a real date in months or the lack of proper alone time (ahem), but I hope it will make my husband smile.

Oh, one last thing: Kevin will you go on a date with me?
