Meet Emily: Defining what success means to her
What challenges did you experience while nursing and how did you overcome them?
My biggest challenge was when my son was only 2 months old, and I got a very persistent milk blister. I can honestly say I got through it because of support groups found on the blogs and other sites.
What has been your proudest moment as a nursing mother?
My proudest moment had to be reaching the nursing 18 month mark with my 3rd child. With each of my babies (I've had 4), six months has always been the initial goal.
What is your favorite memory as nursing mother?
One of my favorite memories of nursing has to be the first time. I know it's cliche, but truly, that moment is so special and will forever be fondly engrained in my heart.
What insight or information would you share to define your personal success as a nursing mother?
I would have to say that my personal nursing success is highly attributed to the fact that I've always nursed on demand, and I work from home. Two things that I know not all women are able to do for various reasons.
Where did you find the greatest support while nursing?
Over time I've found like-minded friends locally to hang out with, which has provided tremendous support "in the flesh". Friends that I feel comfortable nursing in front of, even if I forget my nursing cover, or am not wearing a nursing shirt.
