Role Objective:

Reporting to the Senior Director, Operations, the Quality Assurance Manager Testing (QAMT) for new raw material and product in-development, is expected to lead the Assurance process in accordance to our Quality Management System (QMS) framework and structure.

The Manager combines both experience and expertise to ensure an effective outcome, while taking the initiative and thinking creatively with the required detail to implement new processes, procedures, and requirements (regulatory and business). The Manager will be expected to communicate with others clearly and concisely.

The Manager is accountable for: setting all standards and specifications, QA approval of all new developments, and passing all expectations and outcomes to the Bulk Production team and vendors. The QAMT works collaboratively with Sourcing, Design, and Technical Design to understand the raw material and product requirements and creates appropriate QA controls for each development specific to testing.

The QAMT partners closely with the Bulk Production team in Malaysia, as well as limited external partners, sharing expected test protocol standards and outcomes, and offers support and expertise during bulk production when required.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Quality Assurance | Raw Materials:

  • Partner closely with Sourcing and collaboratively determine test timing and requirements during the Quality Assurance Raw Material pass (QARM)
  • Collaborate with external vendor and supplier partners during development and bulk production phases to ensure clear expectations are set and met and required communication is efficient and effective
  • Ensure raw materials (fabrics or components) approved by Sourcing and/or Design are appropriate for the identified end-use
  • Where the end-use is not covered by existing protocols, determine appropriate test protocols to ensure performance in bulk to standards set in development
  • Execute all required testing within the defined seasonal Time & Action timeframe
  • Enter and maintain all testing data in the Product Lifecycle Management system
  • Establish direct & effective relationships with the quality vendor base (i.e. 3rd party inspection partners)
  • Ensure SOP’s, standard test packages, and protocols are maintained

 

Quality Assurance | Product:

  • Partner closely with Technical Design/Design team to understand product end-use and customer expectation
  • Collaborate with external vendor partners during development and bulk production phases to ensure clear expectations are set and met, and required communication is efficient and effective
  • Ensure raw materials (fabrics or components) approved by Sourcing and/or Design are appropriate for the product end-use
  • Where the end-use is not covered by existing protocols, determine appropriate test protocols to ensure performance in bulk to standards set in development
  • Execute all required testing within the defined seasonal Time & Action timeframe
  • Enter and maintain all testing data in the Product Lifecycle Management system
  • Establish direct & effective relationships with the quality vendor base (i.e. 3rd party inspection partners)
  • Ensure SOP’s, standard test packages, and protocols are maintained

 

Quality Certification:

  • Manage the seasonal, and ongoing, certification tracking tool effectively, ensuring all vendors obtain and maintain their Oeko Tex standing
  • Partner with vendors – suppliers, factories, 3rd party test facilities – to ensure all certification standards are met
  • Manage this accountability within the established seasonal Time & Action timeframe

 

Bulk Production Evaluation:

  • Plan, document, and execute all Random Warehouse Inspections (RWI) as part of the Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Share summary report internally and with vendor partners

 

Testing Documentation:

  • Create and maintain all test protocols – internal and external versions
  • Write internal and external Testing SOP’s, memos, etc.

 

Non-Conformance Report Management (NCR):

  • Assessment of external reports, including root cause analysis and build action plan to closure

 

Vendor Partners:

  • Onboard new vendors, suppliers, and 3rd party partners, following the prescribed onboarding process
  • Negotiate annual test package pricing with our 3rd party inspection/testing partners
  • Collaborate with 3rd party test partners for new test protocols when required

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Quality Assurance, Clothing & Textiles, Fashion Technology
  • Minimum 8 years experience in a related position in the apparel industry
  • Proven leadership and management experience in quality assurance
  • Proven track record for delivering successful quality products
  • In-depth knowledge of Garment Construction and Testing, and Quality Control
  • Excellent knowledge of Statistical Inspection Process
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word
  • PLM knowledge and experience an asset

Travel & Logistics Requirements:

  • Must work out of the Bravado Toronto office
  • Core office hours are Monday-Friday
  • Bravado Designs is fragrance-free environment
  • Global nature of the position will require flexible hours outside core office hours
  • Valid passport and driver’s license
